Ostomy pouch fit: quick checklist

A good pouch fit helps prevent leaks and skin irritation. Measure the stoma regularly, especially during the first months. Cut the barrier opening so it is close to the stoma without touching it. Smooth the barrier from the center outward to avoid wrinkles, and warm it with your hands for better adherence. If you notice itching or burning, check for leakage under the barrier.
